... Christmas Eve dinner ...

In my household we celebrate Christmas Eve. It is the day when all the family gets together even more so than Christmas. We have had to modify some of our staple items as I do not always find everything I need in Charlotte ... yet, I do not find my family complaining. :)
Breakfast started with a crescent filled Nutella ... everything tastes better with Nutlella and I have been seeing these recipes pop up in my favorite blogs ... Bell'Alimento and Averie Cooks provide there versions here and here. I went simple and lazy :) not fancy as I had a day of cooking ahead of me.

After a few errands I started on a light lunch before the Christmas Eve dinner ... I must admit that I was so happy to make these that I forgot that we do not eat meat on Dec. 24th ...

I felt bad about breaking tradition, but it was a light-hearted lunch gathered with my family around the kitchen that I was grateful for having had this precious moment ... and forgave myself for not following our tradition.

Onto ...

... and so it begins ...

... Sushi Rice, Tuna, Avocado, and Cucumber - J style ...

... Shrimp Ceviche - Colombian Style ...

... Sea Bass Ceviche - Peruvian Style ...

... Tuna Sushi - (husband bought too much tuna) ...

... a view of the table ...

 ... and another one ...

... Panko Encrusted Fish and Arroz con Coco (Coconut Rice) ...

So there it is ... the run down of our Christmas Eve dinner ... and that brings us to Christmas Day Lunch ...

Our traditional cappelletti were replaced with the meatless (for Tittina, the household new vegetarian)

Menu replacement ... Passatelli! Meatless but equally as delicious!

... Valentina had hers with vegetable broth ... (not pictured) ...

Also not pictured ... leftovers from Christmas Eve dinner ... and there will be more tuna during the Christmas dinner! As I said ... the Mr. bought too much tuna!

Hope your Christmas was beautiful ... and was shared in the company of family and friends.

... just a little side note ... I am on Instagram ... I share little tid bits of my life ... I am however, really over everyone posting the gifts they received for Christmas ... while I love pictures of witty and clever presents ... I am not in agreement with those that just show the extravagance of the season, I do not care to know what expensive gift everyone received and I am not here to one up anyone, so be kind and STOP. Close side note.

Merry Christmas ... a dopo ... GOING TO THE MOVIES! YEAH!

  1. Everything looks DELICIOUS! I miss eating raw fish, this would be awesome for New Year's Eve, too. :)
