This morning I went with Nana for our first group ride experience ... courtesy of our 3 day free pass at Sports & Fitness ... I wanted to add some strength to my upper body and specific muscles to help with my running and yoga. The only thing for me is paying for a gym when two weeks out of the month I am out and about in some country! So I am still not sold.
I am not much of a gym person ... I am more a Yoga Studio kind of person ... but I must admit that I was excited that a gym was opening 5 minutes from my house and no less a brand new gym.
I must admit I was disappointed with the facilities, they are clean, (that is a plus), but the facility is not state of the art. I figured with a new gym, everything would be avant garde but no such luck! It is a new gym that looks dated ... so far the people are not that nice or welcoming ... except for today's instructor she was very polite and energetic, as opposed to everyone at the front desk ... very UNfriendly ... this may be the deal breaker for me ... but now onto today's class.
... from what I understand group ride is similar to spinning ... a girl next to me stated that in spinning the instructor pretty much chooses her routine ... in group ride the class is structured in music and routine ... I do not know.
The class was fun and HARD ... I loved getting up from the seat it seemed more natural and fun despite the greater resistance ... pedaling on my seat was a lot harder ... it seemed as if everyone around me was going faster, however I do not know if they had the resistance set very low.
I need to ask more details to HRG, she is a spinning instructor and must be a good one ... she seems to be a fun instructor.
It was a fun hour and it would definitely be fun to take part of varied classes to change things up and strengthen the muscles running does not seem to strengthen, at least in my case. But we will see ... I will have to weigh the options once we try Zumba and Group Power on Monday ... we will skip Sunday as there are no classes and I rather run outside than on a treadmill any day!
Have a wonderful Saturday! ... a dopo ... J
