... remembering Phylicia ... always ...

Today at 1:00 PM we went to school for a memorial service for Phylicia Barnes ... Phylicia disappeared a year ago today ... I remember we were in Italy at Nonna's house ... Nana was in Nonna's favorite chair ... I was relaxing beside her in the couch ... she was on my computer ... and then she suddenly said in an extremely worried tone that her friend had disappeared ... I heard her, heard the words ... but my mind was unable to process the phrase she had just uttered ... it was surreal and when finally I was able to comprehend the words ... disbelief once more settled in ... how could that be?

Many tears were shed during our family holiday ... yet we were hopeful that she would be found ... at this day and age you want to believe that she would have access to some type of technology or call out to someone for help ... but the days passed and we had no news ... eventually we did hear ... Phylicia had been found ... but she was no longer with us ...

Still today we do not know what happened ... and today marks one year of her disappearance ...  I saw her mom today ... distraught after one year ... my words seemed so useless ... how could I comfort her ... we talked for a little bit and we hugged and I then left ... feeling useless ...

A whole year has passed ... but she is still remembered ... today and always ...

In the evening ... Mr. ... semplicemente ... j and I went to my friend S's house for dinner ... I love my friend and co-worker S. ... she is just so much fun ... easy-going and I LOVE her sense of humor.  Our Mr.'s were on the shy side ... talking but not as much as S. and I.

The dinner was delicious ... here is a quick recap of the meal:

Mozzarella e Pomodoro ... refreshing ...

My Pepper Jelly Sauce ... crowd pleaser :)  I know, I am modest!

Salame e Formaggio ... a go-to dish ... always ...

Prosciutto e Melone ... Melon a little out of season, S. said which is probably true, however ... I enjoyed it just the same ... I love prosciutto e melone anytime ...

Fusilli con Pesto ... perfectly executed ... this was a hit! Pasta was perfectly al dente!

Not pictured ... my sangria ... pork loin ... peperonata ... insalata ...

S. and I were already talking our ears off by this point ... the hubbys probably felt a little left out ...

It was a very nice evening with great food and great friends ... I must leave you now until tomorrow as I have a restful day to enjoy tomorrow! :)

... a dopo ... J
